Mujer Mariposa Film Poster
A film poster designed for Mujer Mariposa, a feature-length documentary exploring identity, migration, and belonging through the experiences of three first-generation daughters of migrant and refugee women.
THE CHALLENGE
The challenge was to visually communicate the film’s themes of cultural identity, displacement, and belonging while capturing the emotional depth of the stories and the experiences of the women at its center.
THE SOLUTION
I used a powerful still from the documentary featuring a woman and her daughter facing outward as they navigate the world. I contrasted the predominantly blue imagery with custom-designed typography for the title, Mujer Mariposa, creating a distinctive visual identity that reflects the film’s themes. The poster was used across marketing materials for the film, including social media graphics and printed merchandise such as tote bags.
