Council for American and Islamic Relations (CAIR) 18th Annual Gala branding and concepted Tote bag Design
THE CHALLENGE
CAIR San Diego needed design materials for their 18th Annual Gala, honoring 18 years of serving the Muslim American community. The branding needed to reflect the cultural weight of the milestone, drawing on traditional Islamic architecture and design, while working within an existing brand framework set by CAIR LA's design team, who handled typography.
THE SOLUTION
I designed patterns inspired by traditional Islamic architecture, layering architectural photo overlays with custom geometric patterns rooted in Islamic design tradition. This became the visual foundation for the gala's materials, including email signatures, Instagram posts, a program booklet, event banners, and a concepted tote bag design. Working within CAIR LA's typography system, I focused on pattern, photo selection, and layout to bring a sense of honor and cultural authenticity to the gala's visual identity.
